FW 2019 | Birds of Passage
The creation of this collection was both an artistic journey and a challenge, rooted in the exquisite handwoven textiles of the Karen hill tribe from northwestern Thailand. Crafted on small traditional looms, these fabrics possess a natural limitation in width, measuring no more than 60 centimeters, yet they carry a profound cultural and artisanal significance. To balance the rich, textured depth of the hill tribe cotton, we introduced ethereal elements such as delicate feathers and flowing chiffon, creating a striking contrast that elevates the fabric’s raw authenticity. Further enhancing this fusion of tradition and modernity, we incorporated handcrafted clay accessories paired with pristine white leather—an homage to the Karen people's sacred belief in their role as the “protectors of the forest.” This thoughtful interplay of materials and textures results in a collection that is both deeply rooted in heritage and elegantly contemporary.
This mini collection has been a part of runway show for Bangkok International Fashion Week 2019 at Siam Center.
